CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Chicago-based National Association of Realtors is getting a new president.
Tracy Kasper became president of the NAR in August when former leader Kenny Parcel resigned over sexual harassment allegations made public in the New York Times.
Now, Kasper becomes the latest executive to resign from the organization. This time over what was described as threats of blackmail.
The locally based trade association said in a statement that Kasper had “received a threat to disclose a past, personal, non-financial matter unless she stepped away from the NAR.”
Kevin Sears, a Massachusetts broker, is expected to take over as president following Kasper’s resignation.
As president and a long-time member of NAR, I always have put the interests of NAR first,” Kasper said in a statement. “As a result of the recent threat and given the significance of this moment for myself, my family and the organization, it is again time for me to put the interests of NAR first.”
