A Wicker Park bar may have a hard time reopening after a shooting there earlier this month, if the alderman succeeds with a proposal for new restrictions.
The 32nd ward alderman Scott Waguespack has introduced an ordinance that would make it harder for problematic bars to get liquor licenses. This comes after the police department temporarily closed the Point, a late-night bar near Milwaukee North and Damen a public safety threat. Waguespack tells CBS2 it's not just that bar.
The owner says he increased security at the Point in the aftermath of an October shooting that left one person dead and four injured. Following the February 6th shooting of a customer, the police department called the bar a public safety threat and shut it down. Waguespack says that's only temporary and wants new measures making it harder for such bars to get liquor licenses.
