CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some residents of North Center had to find another place to stay after Chicago police say someone set fire to Halloween decorations that spread to their home early Monday.
Police are investigating the fire that started at about 3:30 a.m. on the front porch of a home near Addison and Hoyne as arson. The landlord told CBS-2 five children and their families were forced to evacuate.
"Everybody understood the severity of when it happened, grabbed their families, and able to get out," he said.
Neighbor Brian Lindstrom said the fire is the latest to start from Halloween decorations.
"It's just appalling to see this in our neighborhood," Lindstrom.
Police said another arson last week just a few blocks away near Roscoe and Leavitt also started at around the same time.
The department is investigating two other fires on the North Side in the 3 o'clock hour but has not classified them as arson.
