(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- At least three schools on the North Side and north suburbs are closing their buildings today because of COVID concerns.

Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in the Lakeview neighborhood and Latin School on the Gold Coast. Both are private schools and are closed Friday because of an uptick in COVID cases.

"As we are all well aware, the COVID pandemic continues to evolve with the Delta and Omicron variants taking hold in Chicago and across the country," read a statement from Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School officials.

"We learned this evening that the Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School has reported multiple positive Covid cases in the school and as a result will close the school tomorrow."

In the suburbs, Evanston Township High School is taking an
"adaptive pause". The school building will be closed, but classes will take place remotely through next Thursday.

The next time classes will take place in-person at Evanston Township is January 10, which will be after winter break.

Anshe Emet Synagogue is also closed for Shabbat out of an abundance of caution.
