(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Ahead of the Easter weekend, the city of Chicago is warning people about traveling to the Northeast, where COVID cases are rising.

The Chicago Department of Public Health says Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York are at “medium” to “high” risk for the virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Cook County is currently considered low risk, with 119 cases per 100,000.

Chicago’s case rate is 118.

The city advises unvaccinated people who travel to those areas to quarantine for five days after they return.

The state health department’s map of community levels is solid green — or low risk — with only one spot of yellow (medium risk), in Champaign County. It has 854 active cases.
