EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Northwestern University appeared before Evanston's Land Use Commission Wednesday night for a hearing about plans to build a new football stadium and host concerts.
Northwestern's Chief Operating Officer Luke Figora told the commissioners six football games a year won't generate enough revenue.
"...To build this type of facility, both the financial investment but also just the quality, and to use it six times a year is not something the university is prepared to do," Figora said.
Commissioner George Halik questioned the constantly changing number of concerts in the proposal.
"'We have to have 12 concerts or we cannot afford to build this building.' Then a few months later, you said, 'we have to have 10 concerts.' Now, you're saying, 'we have to have six concerts.' Well, if we wait a few months, will it be two concerts? It makes your argument a little bit unbelievable," Halik said.
Figora said the proposal has gone through a number of iterations.
There will be more meetings before anything is decided.
