Lake County officials ditch Zoom after multiple 'Zoom-bombing' incidents

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lake County, Illinois court system has ditched Zoom.

Zoom and YouTube have both been used by various court systems with differing results.

There have been people outed as cooperating with police. Videos that are not allowed to be shared have been. And especially on Zoom, there are occasional interruptions - so called zoom-bombers - getting into the system and displaying offensive material or talking over the court proceedings.

But there is no more of that in Lake County. They’re done with Zoom.

The Daily Herald reported they’re using an internal system accessible on the court website.

That eliminates zoom bombing, and visitors now have to identify themselves to get in.

There is also no comments section to worry about, and the feeds cannot be rewinded and don't have to be deleted.
