CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A new development is officially underway at an eyesore on Chicago’s Near North Side.
You can say goodbye to the massive hole that sits along DuSable Lake Shore Drive, right next to the Chicago River in Streeterville.
Construction is now underway at the site that was originally going to become the Spire at 400 Lake Shore Drive. That project failed in 2008, and now Related Midwest is stepping in to construct two residential towers.
The first will have 72 stories, offering more than 600 units, including 127 as affordable housing.
The Streeterville project also includes extending the Chicago Riverwalk to Lake Michigan and the development of DuSable Park.
