Some parents this week voiced supported for the Indian Prairie District 204 school board and superintendent while chastising other adults for acting like bullies as debate continues over hybrid learning.

Critics say parents have gone too far as they’ve complained that the board is moving too slowly on expanding in-class education.

“It has been extremely frustrating, disappointing and baffling to witness the behavior and hurtful comments of some, trying to bully and threaten the board into making rash decisions,” parent Marian Banks said.

Parent Cherise Spencer said maybe there needs to be a parent handbook of behavior.

Some parents are demanding more in-person learning in the district, which has more than28,000 students across a west suburban area.

About 14,000 elementary, middle and high school classes are now in school for four half-day sessions a week.

A little more than half are still doing remote learning.
