(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three male staffers at a west suburban facility for people with developmental disabilities have been placed on leave after a female resident was sexually assaulted and became pregnant, officials said.

The victim has given birth and is recovering.

Administrators at Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva said they first learned about the case of sexual abuse on Tuesday of last week. They said the woman who was victimized has a condition that made it hard to tell she was pregnant.

CBS 2 reports the victim has been at the facility for more than 20 years. An investigation is underway by multiple law enforcement agencies.
