55-year-old pedestrian critically injured in NW Side hit-and-run, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are searching for a pickup truck that hit a man in the Old Irving Park neighborhood early this morning.

The 55-year-old man was crossing the street near Irving Park Road and Pulaski, just before 1 a.m. when, police said,  he was hit by a gray pickup headed eastbound. That truck then took off and the man was then hit by a black Jeep. The man driving that vehicle stopped and called 911.

The accident occurred right by the Kennedy and the CTA Blue Line station. Police said the victim was taken to the hospital initially in critical condition.

The Jeep driver has not been cited.
