EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A house fire in Evanston Monday night has left one person hospitalized with severe burns.
Heavy smoke and flames greeted firefighters when they responded to the home on Harrison near Bennett at around 6 p.m.
The City of Evanston said people were evacuating the home, and the fire department upgraded the fire based on the number of calls it was getting.
Crews rescued one person from the second floor of the home and took them to the hospital in critical condition.
Two people had to find another place to stay because of the extensive damage to the more than century-old home.
