CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Much to our surprise, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Metallica played a surprise show Monday night at the Metro in Wrigleyville.
Diehard fans lined up down the block to score their tickets for the intimate show. It was the first time the band has played at the venue since August 1983.
Back then, the Metro was known as Cabaret Metro and Harold Washington was mayor of Chicago, the band had only been around for two years. Fast forward to now, next month marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of Metallica.
And for those of you who didn't get to catch the surprise Metallica show at the Metro, and for those that did and are still reveling in the glory, this week's playlist has been dedicated to Metallica.
Celebrating 30 years of the Black Album, Audacy's exclusive station, "Cover Me," is with dedicated to bands and artists that have covered Metallica.
It's officially fall! So now let's rock on all season long.
