CHICAGO — Police are asking for the public's help identifying the driver of an SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a woman in the Humboldt Park neighborhood Monday night.
According to Chicago police, the incident happened around 10:50 p.m. on the 500 block of North Pulaski Road. A 58-year-old woman was walking along the side of the street when she was hit by a maroon 2002 GMC SUV, possibly a Yukon XL, traveling south on Pulaski.
The vehicle, which has tinted windows and may have damage to the front bumper, fled the scene. It was last seen heading southbound. The SUV bears Illinois license plate DR60795.
The woman suffered trauma to her body and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
Authorities urge anyone who sees the vehicle to call 911 and report its location and direction of travel. Police advise against approaching the driver or the vehicle. Dash cam footage or other relevant information can also be submitted to investigators.
