(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are asking the public for help in finding a hit-and-run driver who critically injured a motorcycle rider on the South Side over the weekend.

A white-colored vehicle struck the motorcycle rider at 71st and Hoyne on Sunday afternoon and then drove off, Chicago Police Department spokesman Tom Ahern said.

The man riding the motorcycle was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with serious injuries, he said.

Detectives hope anyone who saw the accident or has video of it will contact police.

A better description of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle will help them track down the driver responsible, Ahern said.
