CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information after a man was found dead with a puncture wound in the Loop early Sunday morning.
Chicago police said officers responded around 7:20 a.m. to the 200 block of South Wabash Avenue, between Adams Street and Jackson Boulevard, where they found an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators say personal belongings found at the scene indicate the man was experiencing homelessness. They believe he died from a stab wound to his upper back.
“This is a senseless loss of life,” Paul Rutherford, executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, said in a statement. “We are deeply committed to supporting law enforcement and the community in bringing justice for this individual.”
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-535-STOP or online .
