(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A western suburb is warning residents about what appears to be a bogus business pitch.

The Village of North Riverside went on Facebook to say the the community does not allow the painting of street addresses on curbs.

This comes after some flyers were distributed warning residents that first-responders may not be able to find them without the special signage.

“UNIFORM SIGN PLACEMENT AT EACH HOME ON YOUR STREET MEANS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD WILL TAKE ON A MORE ORGANIZED AND PROTECTED LOOK,” the flyer said, according to an example posted online by authorities.

The flyers encourage resident to fill out a form and select one of several designs, the prices of which range from $15 to $20 each.

“Please be assured emergency vehicles WILL be able to find your homes without this,” police said in a community alert.
