CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is self-isolating after a member of her staff tested positive for the coronavirus.
Though she hasn’t experienced any symptoms, Preckwinkle was tested and will isolate until her results return, according to a press release from her office. This staff member was last in the Cook County Building on Friday.
Preckwinkle’s announcement comes a day after Gov. J.B. Pritzker ended a brief self-isolation period after possibly being exposed to COVID-19.
The governor and his staffers tested negative for the virus, his office announced Saturday.
The possible exposure stemmed from a Monday meeting that took place in a large conference room in the governor’s office, according to a statement from the governor’s office. The person the governor met with doesn’t work in his office.
State health officials on Sunday reported 10,009 news cases, including 42 additional deaths.
