(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Gov. JB Pritzker joins the leaders of nearby states, demanding former President Donald Trump account for sending covid supplies to Russia while in office.
According to a joint statement from governors Pritzker, Tony Evers, and Gretchen Whitmer of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan respectively, 1.2 million American people died during the height of the pandemic. They state many died because they did not have access to critical supplies.
The governors are now asking Trump to account for his sending of COVID-19 testing kits to Russian President Vladimir Putin – rather than to U.S. states, during his time in office. In the statement, the governors say Trump mocked them and told them that there were no supplies to be had when they requested testing kits, ventilators, and N-95 masks for their constituents.
The governors each signed off on saying that the former president must explain why he put his personal friendship with Putin – a ruthless dictator charged with committing war crimes – over the American people.
