(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor J.B. Pritzker's office is ridiculing the latest jab at Illinois from the office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. This time the issue is the state's plans to end cash bail.
Florida's Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis touched off the latest skirmish by reportedly sending an open letter to Illinois businesses urging them to move to Florida essentially over the crime issue.
"The recent decision by officials in Illinois to eliminate cash bail in the name of social justice reform is pure insanity," he wrote. "I can only imagine how difficult it is to keep your doors open as crime runs rampant through the streets."
Patronis also said the bail system is a reason why crime in Florida is at a 50- year low.
Pritzker is no fan of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. One of Pritzker's spokespeople shot back at Patronis, according to the Florida Phoenix.
The spokesperson said Patronis should look at his own backyard where dangerous criminals can buy their way out of prison while women are stripped of their rights to make their own healthcare decisions, legal immigrants are persecuted, children are taught lies, and teachers are threatened for trying to give them an education.
