(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Northwest Side auction house has its hands on a few pieces of punk rock history.
Potter & Potter Auctions is hosting what it calls the “Punks, Monsters, Smut & Madmen: A Countercultural Cross-Section” auction next month.
President Gabe Fajuri said there are more than 500 groups of unique items up for auction.
“I think that the parts of the club are quite interesting, the CBGB's pieces, but, you know, Black Flag flyers designed by somebody who is now a major artist, you know, Pettibon,” Fajuri said.
“There's just things that are kind of emblematic of a movement that is now, believe it or not, you know, what are we talking about? 50 years old?”
There’s also a ticket to the final Sex Pistols show, artwork from Simpsons creator Matt Groening, and strands of hair – collected by a barber in 1989 – that belonged to Kurt Cobain.
The auction is March 6, but bids are now being accepted online.
