As Halloween creeps near, houses along Ravenswood Manor have transformed into their own spooky world.

Kevin Byrne said when he and his partner moved to the neighborhood, fellow neighbors warned them about the many Halloween traditions.

“It’s a really fun, kinda celebratory neighborhood,” Byrne said. “Last year, we had 1,900 trick-or-treaters.”

Byrne is one neighbor who takes Halloween seriously. He’s been decorating his house for the past few years. Last year, he created a giant grim reaper and the year before that a massive zombie siege. This year, he’s created three different handmade displays of the “Nightmare Before Christmas” throughout his home.

“It’s the 30th anniversary of the movie so I thought we would celebrate that milestone. I’ve created everything from scratch,” said Byrne.

Using rigged wall installation, Byrne carved out his different shapes to create Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie and more. The process took hours with the help of sand and spackle.

“It probably took me over 200 hours, I think, to create this display,” said Byrne.

He said the hours of work are worth the excitement – there’s nothing better than seeing his community come together to enjoy the Halloween spirit.
