(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Remote learning continues Thursday for all students in the Chicago Public Schools system, CPS tweeted late Wednesday.
The announcement comes as CPS officials and the Chicago Teachers Union continued negotiating the terms of reopening schools for in-person learning during the pandemic.
Mayor Lightfoot and CPS officials say they want to give the parents the option of sending their children to schools because some students have struggled with online learning.
Teachers have demanded greater safety precautions ranging from coronavirus testing to, reportedly, access to scarce COVID-19 vaccines.
CPS says Friday remains a non-attendance day for students.
