The Illinois Department of Public Health cited 74 assisted living facilities across the state for violations.
In its 2022 first quarter report, the health department said five facilities were cited for AA violations, which refer to incidents that lead to a resident’s death.
The main reason for AA incidents was a failure to limit the spread of COVID-19.
More than five dozen assisted living facilities were cited with less severe violations. These included failing to follow a resident’s care plan and failing to identify a patient properly before administering medication.
