Retail cooperative still closed after suspected drunk driver hit building

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The busy holiday shopping season was halted for several vendors in west suburban Forest Park after a suspected drunk driver crashed through the window, causing extensive damages.

ME Marketplace, a retail cooperative on the 7400 block of West Madison, houses more than a dozen local vendors selling unique handmade items.
Earlier this month, a vehicle struck the building.

Owner Shettima Webb said she’s grateful that nobody – included the suspected drunken driver – was injured.

But she added, “Right now, I’m losing business.”

A Go Fund Me page has been set up. It’s not clear when the coop might reopen.
