(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — In a sign of escalating tensions in west suburban Proviso Township District 209 — where teachers have been on strike for eight days — a school board member says she filed a police report against the superintendent over his behavior at a board meeting.

After the board meeting this week that included booing from the crowd, member Claudia Medina said she approached Supt. James Henderson to ask for his schedule for negotiations. She claims he made threatening gestures and made inappropriate remarks.

“He put his elbow right in front of my face and uttered some quite disparaging words,” Medina said.

Medina has had a strained relationship with Henderson for awhile, she said.

A video that's circulating online shows Henderson talking with Medina as security guards and other people step in between them.

The head of the teachers union is backing Medina and says Henderson has lost control of himself and the district.

Negotiations were expected to resume Thursday. WBBM Newsradio has reached out to the superintendent for comment.
