(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After two weeks of below-normal temperatures, dangerous heat is about to settle over Chicago.

Temperatures hit warm levels Monday in the 80s, but the heat really turns up beginning Tuesday. A heat advisory begins noon tomorrow and lasts until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

During that period, the temperature on Tuesday could tie the record of 99 degrees, set in 1987, according to AccuWeather.

A previous record for Wednesday’s date (95 degrees) could fall if the temperature hits 97, as expected.

It will feel worse. The heat index will make it feel like 105 to 110 degrees in the next two days.

Relief is expected Friday with cooler temperatures, back in the 80s.
