CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — At least one person was hospitalized on Wednesday after someone approached several teens at Chicago Tech Academy and sprayed them with what police have described as a "chemical irritant."

Chicago police said no one was seriously hurt, and no one was in custody after the attack, which took place late Wednesday morning.

Investigators said a female walked into the Chicago Tech Academy, located on 14th Street near Throop Street on the Near West Side.

That person then approached eight females, who ranged in age from 15 to 19, and sprayed them with a chemical irritant.

Police said the person who sprayed the chemical fled from the building.

Chicago fire officials told CBS 2 that two students were taken to hospitals in good condition.

Police, though, said all of the teens approached by the person declined medical attention, and a 27-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

School officials told CBS 2 that the incident prompted an evacuation.
