CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Earlier today, the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for parts of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.

The alert has expired for the surrounding Chicago area and northwest Indiana.

Once the storm front moves through, AccuWeather says temperatures will cool off and the humidity will dissipate.

A broken line of thunderstorms from southern Wisconsin made its way to the northern suburbs and parts of the city earlier this morning, resulting in a brief ground stop at both O’Hare and Midway airports.

The rest of the morning saw a respite from the tumultuous conditions, with heat and humidity intensifying Inland temperatures have approached 90 degrees.

Tomorrow, it will be pleasant with bountiful sunshine and inland temps hovering in the low 80s. Lakefront temps will only be in the low 70s, AccuWeather says.

The sublime conditions will be short lived. The oppressive heat and humidity will return on Sunday, with temps nearing 90 degrees once again. Monday, AccuWeather forecasts a muggy high of 95.
