A non-profit that serves people with intellectual and development disabilities is expanding its reach with a second retail store in Chicago.
The Planet Access shop on West Division has racks of warm clothes and shelves of handcrafted housewares.
Manager Maria Romero points to vibrant paintings on the walls made by artists in the Visibility Arts program run by Search360, which also owns and operates the store.
CEO Cory Gumm says the Wicker Park boutique and one that’s been open in Lincoln Square since 2010 will help Search360 offer more services for the people in their care.

There are 170 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in their 28 group homes across the Chicago area.
Services include planning and taking clients on memorable vacations.
For an Elvis superfan named Diane, that meant going to Graceland.
Since starting the Search for Adventure program in 2004 with the clothing company Toad&Co, they have also visited the Appalachian Trail, Disney World, the Grand Canyon and more than 45 destinations across the country.
