(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A GoFundMe campaign has raised thousands of dollars for the family of a brother and sister killed in crash between an SUV and a school bus earlier this week.
Kane County investigators say Grace Diewald, 20, and 19-year-old Emil Diewald died Monday afternoon when the SUV they were riding in collided with the back of a school bus near Campton Hills in Kane County.
Police say the driver of the SUV and another passenger were injured in the crash. No one on the school bus was reportedly was hurt.
Now, a friend of the Diewald siblings has organized a fundraising effort to help the family with funeral and other expenses. It had raised nearly $30,000 by Tuesday evening.
“They were both really, really good kids,” Krystal Nelson tells WBBM Newsradio.
The brother and sister lived near St. Charles.
An investigation into the crash continues.
