POSEN, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – A Wisconsin woman convicted in the high-profile “Slender Man” stabbing was taken into custody late Sunday after fleeing a supervised group home, authorities said.

23-year-old Morgan Geyser disappeared Saturday night after cutting off a Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and leaving a residential facility in Madison, according to police. She was last seen with another adult before staff discovered she was gone Sunday morning.

The Madison Police Department confirmed Geyser was found at a Thornton’s truck stop in Posen, a south suburb of Chicago, and was taken into custody without incident. Officials have not released details on whether she will face additional charges.

Geyser was 12 years old in 2014 when she and classmate Anissa Weier lured their friend, Payton Leutner, into a wooded area in Waukesha, Wisconsin and stabbed her 19 times. The girls told investigators they carried out the attack to appease Slender Man, a fictional internet character. Leutner survived after months of recovery.

Geyser was committed to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide. A judge granted her conditional release earlier this year, finding she no longer posed a danger to herself or others.
