CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Inside Navy Pier, a new project is being built to take guests above the Chicago skyline.
"This is going to be something unlike anyone here in Chicago has ever experienced," said Derek Poitras, General Manager of Flyover.
The new Flyover Chicago attraction is transforming the old IMAX theater into an immersive 65-foot tall, 5-story ride that takes guests on a journey throughout Chicago. Flyover aims to capture audiences with stories of the city, visuals of Chicago's architecture and more.
Flyover currently has three other locations around the world: Las Vegas, Reykjavík and Vancouver. Poitras said the Chicago location will be the only Flyover attraction that focuses entirely on the city itself.
"This location is going to be our first film that focuses solely on the city itself. Chicago has a lot of stories to tell and we're very happy to be showcasing that," said Poitras.
The immersive attraction will take guests on a voyage across the city through storytelling and film. Chicago was chosen as the premiere city among competing locations across the globe.
"Chicago is such a diverse, culturally rich city with a ton of history, to me it just makes sense that it came here,"
Flyover Chicago is scheduled to open this upcoming spring. Tickets are now available, starting at $24. You can learn more about the Flyover Chicago here.
