Illinois’ Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is offering access to up to $50 worth of locally grown products from certified farmers.

Kelly Rice with Illinois Department on Aging said the Greater Chicago Food Depository is among those distributing checks to seniors.

“The vouchers are distributed through all of our area agencies on aging, as well. There’s 13 areas on aging throughout the state, and anybody is able to contact those agencies to find out when they’re doing their distribution dates to be able to go and pick up those checks.”

The program distributes free coupon books to more than 28,000 low-income older Illinoisans.
