(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — J.G. Smith is the Foley artist for the American Blues Theater's annual holiday production of “It's a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago.”
She makes it all sound so good.
“Foley sound effects is named after its inventor who is Jack Foley, the first person to sort of create, you know, sort of make this method of live sound effects for radio shows,” Smith said.
“For movies as well. A lot of folks will continue to use Foley as opposed to computer created sound. You'll get a more accurate sound, doing something like a typewriter bell.”
J.G. provides the Foley for the iconic scene when George and Mary are arguing, which included telephone rings, slamming sounds, and knocks.
The show runs through Dec. 22. Tickets can be purchased here.
