CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago man is due in court today on more charges after the deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and their baby following a shooting last month.

Chicago police arrested Robert Pasco III. on involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment charges. The 42-year-old had initially faced gun charges after 35-year-old Edith Castrejon suffered a gunshot wound to the chest while the couple was in bed at a home at 58th and Newport.

She was five months pregnant. Doctors delivered her baby at the hospital before she died. The boy named Jesus died a week later.

Pasco told police he thought Castrejon tried to move the gun while he had his hand near it under a pillow, and it went off.

Pasco is the father of Castrejon’s three other children, ages 3, 4 and 7, who were inside the Portage Park home at the time of the shooting but were not hurt.
