David Soul, known for portraying Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson on hit ‘70s cop television series “Starsky & Hutch,” has passed away at the age of 80.

On Thursday, Soul’s wife Helen Snell confirmed his death, according to the BBC.

"He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist, and dear friend," she said.

The American-British actor/singer starred in “Starsky & Hutch” from 1975-79. He also played the character Joshua Bolt in “Here Come the Bride” from 1968-70. Soul portrayed John Davis, a police officer in “Magnum Force” in 1973.

Soul notched one hit in the United States as a singer and five in the United Kingdom. His big songs included “Don’t Give Up on Us” and “Silver Lady.”

In 2004, Soul reprised his role as Hutch in the “Starsky & Hutch” movie remake, which starred Ben Stiller as Starsky and Owen Wilson as Hutch.
