CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Saturday reported 4,469 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases , including 29 related deaths.
A woman in her 30s and a man and a woman both in their 40s were among the 62 people who reportedly died of virus in Cook County on Sunday, according to the IDPH.
Illinois has had a total of 979,821 COVID-19 cases. including 16,755 related deaths, since the pandemic's start.
Over the past 24 hours, 45,465 tests were performed for a total 13,482,117. As of Saturday night, 3,817 people were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 798 patients were in the intensive care unit and 458 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from Dec. 27 through Jan. 2 is 8.3%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Dec. 27 through Jan. 2 is 9.6%.
