(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Well, that was quick.
Anderson’s Bookshop on Friday announced a meet-and-greet with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown for Sept. 17 and posted a link to purchase a package for her forthcoming novel and a photo with the actress. Needless to say, tickets sold out quickly for the three-hour event in Naperville.
Then came the complaints on the bookseller’s Facebook page from people who did not get tickets. Some claimed that individuals were offering to sell theirs on the secondary market, or – worse – trying to scam people with obviously fraudulent ticket offers.
“Ticket resellers are potentially an issue when we promote/announce our events on social media. That is why we gave all subscribers to our email list a 30 minute head start on ticket sales,” the administrator for the book store’s Facebook page said.
Another comment from the book store cautioned: “Anderson's is not responsible for and does not recommend purchasing tickets on the secondary market for any of our events.”
Those lucky enough to get tickets for $36 each will get a signed copy of Brown’s 320-page period novel, “Nineteen Steps,” which releases Sept. 12, and a photo with the star. No memorabilia allowed.
“This is a signing/photo line event,” Anderson’s told one person in the conversation thread. “You will be lined up according to your signing line number on your ticket, and then Millie will sign your book and take a quick picture. It is a quick hello.”
The book store said Brown had a tight schedule, so they could only offer a fixed number of tickets.
