(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A suspect charged with shooting a man headed to synagogue in Chicago has been found dead in his jail cell.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office said they found 22-year-old Sidi Mohammad Abdallahi unresponsive in his jail cell after hanging himself on Saturday.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man had been facing several hate crime and terrorism charges for allegedly shooting a 39-year-old man in the shoulder as that man was walking into a West Rogers Park Synagogue in October.

The Sheriff's office said there was no evidence of foul play.
