(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Authorities say they have recovered a body that had been inside a stolen van taken from a Rockford funeral home over the weekend.

The male body was found at 82nd and Manistee, in Chicago's Calumet Heights Neighborhood, Rockford police reported Monday.

The van in which the body had been was outside the Collins & Stone Funeral Home Saturday afternoon when it was stolen.

Initially, the van was found on Sunday in Chicago, near 87th and Dorchester, but the body was missing, said Rockford police, who posted surveillance pictures of the man suspected of stealing the vehicle.

The thief is now wanted for the van theft and abuse of a corpse.
