(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 23-year-old Southwest Side man is in custody after police say he committed two robberies, two attempted robberies and a carjacking -- all in an hour and a half early Tuesday.
Chicago police say the one-man crime spree started at 5:20 in the morning in the Printer's Row area and spread farther south in the South Loop.
First, officials say, an attempted armed robbery; then, 10 minutes later, an armed robbery. Five minutes later, another attempt. Twenty-five minutes later, another robbery. Finally, police allege, there was a carjacking in the 1100 block of South Wabash around 7 a.m.
Police say they arrested 23-year-old Jorge Gonzalez on the Kennedy Expressway near downtown.
He's facing a total of five felony counts; charges include armed robbery and vehicular hijacking.
