(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police have confirmed one person died after running into trouble while swimming near the Museum Campus.
The Chicago Police Marine Unit team says two people, both males, jumped into the lake around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Crews recovered both people, and one of them died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
There are beach hazard alerts up for the Chicago lakefront as strong currents and high waves are expected. Waves could reach as high as 3 to 5 feet tall.
That alert is in place until 9 p.m. Wednesday evening.
