ROUND LAKE BEACH (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two teenagers in Lake Villa are awaiting a bond hearing after allegedly defacing multiple businesses with hate speech Tuesday morning.

Police said 18-year-old David Dolan and 19-year-old Anthony Shields are also facing counts of defacement of property for spray painting hate speech on businesses in Round Lake Beach.

Officers said they were called to the Walmart Superstore on Route 83 and Monaville Road at around 3:30 a.m. for a complaint that the doors to the Lawn and Garden section were defaced with spray paint.

Investigators then determined several businesses in the 2000 block of Route 83 were spray painted with hate speech and swastikas.

Shortly thereafter, additional officers spotted Dolan and Shields riding bikes near Rollins and Hainesville Roads. Police said there had been previous contacts between Dolan and Walmart. Officers then stopped the pair and discovered them with spray paint that matched the color at the Walmart. Dolan and Shields subsequently admitted to the hate crimes at Walmart and other businesses.

Police said the teens will be held responsible to the fullest extent possible.
