(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — This week's Difference Maker focuses on a woman who's leading an effort to clean up Chicago.

Katherine Tellock founded Cleanup Club Chicago after seeing trash everywhere she went in the city. Her group of volunteers picks up litter.

Tellock says the group expects to be busy this summer, based on the amount of trash it collected in its first two years. To date, volunteers have picked up 8,700 pounds of trash.

Tellock says litter is a citywide problem.

“It's actually all over the city, and we are going wherever we're needed,” she said. “That includes North Side, West Side, South Side. It has nothing to do with where you are in the city — the litter problem persists everywhere.”
