(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The number of people getting COVID vaccinations continues to rise, and the number of people booking vacations continues to rise with it.
Lynn Farrell, President of Windy City Travel in Chicago, on Monday said her office has been fielding calls from people who want to make up for lost living by booking a vacation.
She’s getting calls from grandparents who want to book vacation experiences with their children and grandchildren.
"We are finding that we have grandparents spending more energy, time, and money than they had previously on those multigenerational trips,” Farrell said.
She added that everyone else is starting to unleash pent-up demand. In other words, the travel market is hot.
"We recommend that if you're thinking about traveling, get it on the books," Farrell said.
Travelers need to navigate new COVID safety rules and regulations, and some destinations require specific COVID tests, she said.
Rental cars are scarce all over the country, she said.
Even though the leisure travel market is busy, she says the business travel market is just starting to show signs of life.
