CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There’s new reward money being offered by the family of a Chicago man who was murdered in the University Village neighborhood in October.
Salvador Herrera, 42 was shot to death near Loomis and Flournoy on October 15 while attempting to prevent people from breaking into a car.
He was on his way home from work. WBBM spoke to his sister Marcelina, who described him as an "honorable, hard-working family man."
"We really want to find justice for my brother," she said holding back tears. "Describing him is absolutely impossible, because he was such an amazing person."
Family and friends have been posting and passing out flyers in the area. The total reward money is now $45,000 with Herrera's family offering $30,000 for any tips that could lead to the arrest and conviction of his murderers and Crime Stoppers offering $15,000.
