(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Venezuelan woman shot outside a Chicago police station last weekend was holding her son when she was wounded, a published report says.
Yerlianny Romero tells Telemundo Chicago her son started screaming and crying after someone began shooting from a Jeep outside the Grand Crossing police station Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old migrant said she had only been in Chicago for a week when she was shot in the backside. A 24-year-old man who is also staying at the police station was shot, too. He said the bullet is still lodged in his leg and hurts in the cold weather.
Police announced 25-year-old Anthony Evans of the West Side has been charged in the shooting and DUI crash with a squad car that left four officers injured.
