Relatives of a Lombard man held captive by the Taliban for over two years are renewing their calls for his release after a video surfaced yesterday showing him alive.
The 30-second video obtained by the New Yorker is the first proof of life family members have seen since Mark Frerichs was kidnapped in Kabul on January 31, 2020.
His sister Charlene Cakora said in a statement, "President Biden, you have had a way to bring Mark home since you took office. Now, we need you to act."
The Daily Herald reports she’s referring to a prisoner exchange that U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth supports. The Iraq War vet tells the paper, "As the only remaining U.S. hostage of the war in Afghanistan, we owe it to Mark Frerichs and his family to pull every possible lever we can to bring home this Navy veteran."
