Intuit Art Museum's grand re-opening welcomed city leaders and the art community to it's expanded renovated space, now two buildings in West Town at Odgen and Milwaukee.

Museum President and CEO Deb Kerr says the overhaul to the historic space is a dream come true, taking 20 months and more than $10 million dollars with $5 million coming from the City of Chicago.

Launched in 1991 by a group of artists dedicated to so-called outsider art, the reopening included a ribbon-tying ceremony.

The revamped museum will feature community and student rooms, new gallery space and rotating exhibits.

Kerr says a special inaugural show featuring paintings and sculptures from immigrants and migrants made in the Chicago area will be showcased on the second floor called "Catalyst:Im/migration and Self-Taught Art in Chicago".

The museum will be offering complimentary admission over the holiday weekend.
